Year 7 at Blackwell Adventure Centre

On Monday 14th May 2018, we arrived at Blackwell and we were shown to our different camps, set up with big tents and a fire pit. Before we knew it,we were straight off into our teams, six in total, to start the activities for the day. Our first activity was abseiling from a rock climbing wall which was a real face-your-fears moment and we had to put our trust in the leader who was at the top. Other activities included Archery, Zip Wire, Rock Climbing, 3G Swing and Crate Stack Climbing. Everyone found themselves in groups that they wouldn’t usually socialise with at school, but we all got to talk and work with lots of our fellow students which made it a true team effort, especially when it came to team building exercises with large groups of us all working together and encouraging one another. We were so lucky to have such good weather because in the evening, we got to play football, go in the swimming pool and take part in orienteering. Then on the more relaxed nights we had hot chocolate and marshmallows around the fire with our friends and the teachers. Going to Blackwell Adventure has made us want to try more adventurous things! We think this is the same across the year group, we have grown in confidence because we got to try things we never have; face our fears and have worked with people we usually wouldn’t including getting to know lots of different teachers that we don’t get to see often or have in lessons.

“Every night we played an hour of football, it was nice to play with students I didn’t really know and see everyone having a nice time”.Dylan 7SNA
